Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet will perform a special New York City engagement May 5 – 10, 2009 at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue (at 19th Street). The acclaimed company is returning to The Joyce with New York premieres from the gifted choreographer: “Dust And Light” had its world premiere in San Francisco a few days ago.
The Martha Graham Dance Company will honor Paul Szilard at their Gala on Thursday, May 14th, 2009 at 7:00 pm during their special engagement week at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts at NYU, 566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square South. Jacques D’Amboise will be introducing Mr. Szilard. There will be special programming for the evening including a new “Lamentation Variation” for Fang Yi and other dancers. Full program to be later announced.
Career Transition For Dancers is proud to announce a Power Pilates Matching Grant Project. This grant program will match CTFD’s grant, up to a maximum of $2,000, for enrollment in any Power Pilates certification program offered in more than forty US cities.
Alonzo King's LINES Ballet was founded in San Francisco in 1982, and has developed into a celebrated international touring company. This year touring began in February in Indianapolis, and was followed by 4 Hawaii cities continuing in March to Forli; Bolzano; and Civitanova, Italy then March 19-28 in Lyon, France for the Maison de la Danse, followed by Toulouse, and Arcachon, France. This week the company is in Bayonne, and La Rochelle, France returning to their home city for their annual spring season (April 17-26). The touring returns May 1-2 Dallas, TX; May 5-10 NYC (The Joyce Theater) returning to Europe: May 30-31 Trezzo, Italy Festival AddaDanza; June 6-7 Jerusalem, Israel The Israel Festival; June 9 in Rouen, France and December 9-10 in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
