Cork City Ballet, in association with the Cork Opera House, recently launched its forthcoming production of The Nutcracker, which will run at the Cork Opera House for four performances Novembver 19th, 20th, & 21st 2009

This festive production features Japanese ballerina Chika Temma as the Sugar Plum Fairy in the company’s first full-length Nutcracker. Irish ballerina Monica Loughman will also star in the production, together with Bolshoi Ballet dancer Robert Gabdullin, and Leigh Alderton, who trained at London’s Royal Ballet School.   Enhanced by magnificent costumes specially commissioned and made at the Kirov Ballet in St. Petersburg, CCB’s Nutcracker promises to be a thrilling spectacle of sumptuous dance delights.

Speaking at the recent launch, Artistic Director Alan Foley said, “In these tough economic times, Cork City Ballet is proud to continue to represent the classical ballet genre in its home city for an enriching event which is sure to please every cultural palate”.
