The Limón Dance Company will appear at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China, December 3-7, presenting four performances – two different programs, featuring live music performed by the Chinese Musical Conservatory. Though the Company has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, most recently in Italy, this marks Limón’s first trip to China.
Repertory for these historic performances include classics by José Limón as well as works by Artistic Director Carla Maxwell, famed German choreographer Susanne Linke, former company principal Clay Taliaferro, and current company dancer Jonathan Frederickson, whose work will receive its world premiere in Beijing.
Repertory:
The Moor’s Pavane: Limón/Purcell
There is a Time: Limón/Norman Dello Joio
Missa Brevis: Limón/Zoltán Kodály
The Traitor: Limón/Gunther Schuller
Etude: Carla Maxwell/Franz Schubert
Transfiguration: Susanne Linke/Franz Schubert
Into My Heart’s House: Clay Taliaferro/various
The Edge of Some World: Jonathan Frederickson/Henryk Górecki
The excited Company will find some time for sightseeing during their November 28-December 7 trip – tours to the Badaling Great Wall, the Ming Tombs, and the Forbidden City.
