Rising American singer/songwriter Toby Lightman stars in the latest edition of the new video series #ShareTheMattress that features creative artists dancing and playing on their beds. Lightman, on tour now to support her 2013 EP release “Holding a Heart,” recently gained popularity for having five songs featured on an episode of ABC Family’s award-winning show “The Fosters.” Her single “Holding a Heart” is a bonafide television soundtrack hit, having been featured on “One Tree Hill,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “Switched at Birth,” “90210” and more.
In this video, Lightman wakes up rock-star style, strums, struts, flops, and even does stage leaps on her bed. This video is directed by acclaimed choreographer Larry Keigwin for the 10th anniversary of his KEIGWIN + COMPANY dance troupe and its first smash hit, 2003’s “Mattress Suite.”
Lightman’s is the third of ten videos that will roll out through October. The series is featured on KEIGWIN + COMPANY’s website. Viewers are encouraged to share their own videos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or YouTube with the hashtag #ShareTheMattress.
Keigwin created “Mattress Suite” in 2003 after watching dancer Nicole Wolcott jump around playfully on her bed. The pair developed choreography inspired by Wolcott’s moves and set to popular songs and classical music. The piece was a hit with critics and audiences. KEIGWIN + COMPANY’s 10th Anniversary season runs October 29-November 3, 2013 at New York City’s Joyce Theater. “Mattress Suite” will be featured during the run. Tickets are available here.
