Alternatively, the film’s eight parts can be purchased one by one every four weeks for £1.29 each and downloaded from the Itunes store. Genesis will also be available soon on Google Play.

Part one – Spring – featuring The Royal Ballet’s Sarah Lamb and Steven McRae, has already reached number one in the Itunes Classical Music Videos Chart and is available by clicking the icon below.

The general release of Genesis marks the first time ever that a collection of dance pieces has been created and filmed specifically for download to personal portable devices, bringing ballet to a new, digitally-aware audience.

Choreographed by multi-award winning dance maker Kim Brandstrup and former Royal Ballet dancer Ernst Meisner, to music by Bach, Mendelssohn and Rachmaninoff, Genesis features some of the world’s finest dancers: Sarah Lamb and Steven McRae (The Royal Ballet), Esteban Berlanga, Alina Cojocaru, Daria Klimentová, Vadim Muntagirov and Erina Takahashi (English National Ballet) together with former Royal Ballet Principal and Ballet Director, Johan Kobborg.

With atmospheric lighting design created especially for the medium by Nicholas Holdridge, Genesis is a collection of eight original dance pieces exploring aspects of human relationships over four sections: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. Featuring female and male solos as well as pas de deux, Genesis takes audiences from the beginning of a relationship, to the passionate exuberance of youth, through to the comfort of middle life, and onward to the inevitable end.

Using the same state-of-the-art camera techniques that have dazzled worldwide audiences in recent films such as The Amazing Spiderman and Prometheus, Genesis has been directed especially for the medium by Kim Brandstrup and The Royal Ballet’s Bennet Gartside.

Commenting on the general release, Crystal Ballet’s Co-Founder and Artistic Director Henry St Clair said: ‘The general release of Genesis is a real milestone in Crystal Ballet’s development and a historic moment for dance. Now, with the latest digital technology, anyone with a portable digital device can watch world class ballet anywhere, for a fraction of the price of a ticket to the theatre’
